SPECIAL EDUCATION COMPLEX NEEDS INSTRUCTIONAL COACH (.6 FTE) - 9 month position plus 2 weeks - PURPOSE OF POSITION: Supports educators and and assists them in setting goals, creating plans, and analyzing and reflecting on outcomes for students who have autism, complex needs, and/or intellectual disabilities.  Coaches/mentors/trains teachers in using evidence-based instructional strategies needed to work with students with autism, complex needs, and/or intellectual disabilities.  Coaches/mentors/trains teachers in using Structured Teaching (i.e., a visually-based approach to creating highly structured environments that support individuals with behavioral challenges, students with ASD, and other students with complex needs and/or intellectual disabilities).  Provides direction and support to teachers of self-contained programs for students with autism, complex needs, and/or intellectual disabilities.  Trains and mentors special education staff in areas listed under essential duties in the position`s job description.  Background Experience:  Must have or be eligible for a Kansas Teaching License with a minimum of four years teaching experience.  Special Education endorsement preferred, but this area may be negotiable depending on the other background/experiences of the candidate. Experience in teaching using the Structured Teaching Model and use of visual schedules.  If qualified/interested in this position please go to our website: www.usd465.com, click on EMPLOYMENT box and select the CERTIFIED APPLICATION link.  You will be required to submit a resume with your application.  If you have any questions regarding this position, please contact Cowley County Special Services Cooperative Director Dr. Ron Sarnacki or Assistant Director Deana Waltrip either by email: ron_sarnacki@usd465.com or deana_waltrip@usd465.com or by telephone: 620-221-7021.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted.  Position is open until filled.

Winfield Public Schools is located approximately 40 miles southeast of Wichita. Winfield is a rural community of about 12,000 people with easy access to Wichita. Winfield Public Schools has a 4A high school, a grade 6-8 middle school, four K-5 elementary schools and Winfield Early Learning Center for pre-school students. USD 465 is the sponsoring district for the Cowley County Special Services Cooperative. Approximately 2,300 students attend Winfield Public Schools.
