Position Overview - Participate in the screening, evaluation, and identification practices of students with disabilities
- Participate in special education planning, preparation, and service review meetings
- Serve on school general education intervention (GEI) teams and other school based committee
- Develop, implement, and measure appropriate goals and objectives for students with disabilities
- Provide services for students in accordance with the student`s individualized education program (IEP)
- Develop and implement appropriate lessons plans and activities for students with disabilities
- Coordinate special education and related services with members of the IEP team
- Complete and submit all special education documentation in a timely manner
- Adhere to both SKACD and local district procedures
- Participate in required inservice training and profession development actives
- Ensure relevant teaching licensure and certification remain in good standing
- Establish professional rapport; communicate effectively to teachers, staff, parents, and administrators
- Demonstrate reflective teaching practices; explore and advocate for improved service delivery
- Complete other duties as assigned by SKAD administration
Logistics, Work Location, Hours, Supervision, Salary, and Benefits - Worksite is assigned annually by the needs of SKACD; to be discussed at the time of hiring
- The position will follow a 9-month teaching contract (w/opportunity for additional teaching opportunities during the summer months)
- Working hours will be determined by the local school district where you are assigned
- Reports to both SKACD administration and local district administration
- The position may be responsible for supervision, evaluation, and training of para professionals

Core Position Requirements - Education
- Minimum: Associates degree (or 60 college hours without earning a degree) in any field
- Preferred: Bachelor`s degree or higher in education discipline (e.g. elementary education, secondary education, early childhood education, special education)
- Licensure:
- Minimum: eligibility for an emergency substitute teaching license
- Preferred: fully certified special education teachers (or eligible for special education licensure waiver)
- Maintain a valid drivers licensee and have access to reliable transportation
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
