Responsibilities: Direct the orchestra program at Comanche Middle School (6-8) and assist at Dodge City High School. 

 

Responsible for directing orchestral activities at CMS, including but not limited to:

select and prepare repertoire for performance in daily classroom rehearsals utilizing appropriate planning, pedagogy, assessment, documentation, and classroom management procedures for beginning string students;

schedule and present concerts (one per grade each semester, plus Pre-Festival Concert and Spring Festival);

communicate effectively with administration, colleagues, and parents

manage building instrument inventory;

complete minor instrument repair, and manage repair requests for major issues;

manage supply budget.

Responsible for assisting the Head Director at Dodge City High School, including but not limited to: 

act as lead director for one lower level orchestra;

assist in the organization and coaching of small chamber ensembles;

assist in one administrative area (inventory management, library management, or uniforms) 

Preference given to candidates that are lower strings specialists and/or have Mariachi experience. 

Requirements: 

Bachelor of Music required, MM preferred

Kansas Secondary Music certification. Transferable certification from another state or willingness to participate in KS Transition to Teach program is also acceptable.

ESL/ESOL endorsement preferred

Reports to Comanche Middle School Principal
