Requirements for this position include the minimum of a Bachelor`s degree from an accredited college or university and a valid Kansas Teaching Certificate with applicable level-area endorsements.

A successful candidate for this position processes the qualities and experience necessary to empower student learning through innovative teaching and learning practices- cross-curricular collaboration- and real world learning opportunities through the 9-12 English Language Arts content.

 

This includes- but is not limited to- the following: 

 

  • Co-teach and collaborate closely with multiple members of the staff across various subject areas. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility- adaptability- and creativity in an ever-changing educational environment.
  • Skilled at implementing various research-based teaching and learning methods including project-based learning- differentiated instruction- design thinking- and real world learning.
  • Create and implement a curriculum that meets the needs of district- building- and program goals. 
  • Serve as a facilitator for the Innovation Academy- responsible for guiding the development- goal-setting- and progress of individual and group projects in areas of student interest in multiple areas- helping to link projects to content standards/competencies.
  • Collect and track data linked to the development of student learning and growth.
  • Engage in ongoing learning to remain current in emerging technologies- trends- and research- to share and model effective practice in 21st-century teaching and learning strategies as well as research and assess current trends in teaching and learning practices. 
  • Support district alternative learning programs with materials and resources in the area of English Language Arts.

Basehor-Linwood Unified School District 458 serves students and families in a 90 square mile area of southern Leavenworth County, Kansas. We currently have 8 district attendance centers. Our Early Learning Center for Childcare and Pre-K opened for the 2020-21 school year in August. K-5 buildings are located in Bonner Springs, Basehor and the Glenwood Ridge subdivision. A new K-5 building, located in Basehor, opened in the Fall 2021. Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 attend Basehor-Linwood Middle School in Basehor, near the center of the district. Basehor-Linwood High School, located in Basehor, is a 5A school, serving students in grades 9 through 12. 

 

BLHS was named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School. In addition, the district operates Basehor-Linwood Virtual School, an internet-based school serving approximately 250 K-12 students statewide instructed by Basehor-Linwood teachers.

 

Special Education services are provided by the Tonganoxie/Basehor-Linwood Special Education Cooperative located in Basehor.
