Job Announcement: Cowley County Special Services Cooperative in Winfield, Kansas has openings for Special Education/IRC  Teachers Pre-Kindergarten to 12th Grade.

The special education teacher will work with students with mild disabilities who take their classes in the regular classroom.  Areas of support include, but are not limited to pre-teaching vocabulary for core curriculum classes, teaching students strategies in how to take tests successfully, providing support in the regular classroom itself during instruction, teaching reading, writing, spelling, and/or math in the Resource Room.  Teaching duties will be determined by each student’s IEP.  There are multiple requirements for special education paperwork that come with any special education teaching position.  The cooperative has an IEP (Individual Education Plan) Coordinator who will assist/train all teachers in this process.  In addition, teachers will have an opportunity to participate in Orton-Gillingham training.  OG is a multi-sensory approach to helping students to learn to read, write, and spell.  OG training is for two weeks every summer for three summers.

Salary:

Salary commensurate with experience. All teachers are placed on the Teacher`s Salary Schedule.  First year teachers with a Bachelor’s Degree receive $42,440.  First year teachers with a Master’s Degree receive $45,640.
