This position is not part of the negotiated agreement and offers a very competitive salary along with a stipend that is 7% of the base each year.

Qualifications:        

    1. Must possess an Educational Specialist or Doctorate Degree in School Psychology.                                                  

  1. Eligible for a Kansas license as a School Psychologist.

 

REPORTS TO:      Director of Special Services

 

JOB GOAL:          School Psychologists work with parents- educators and other professionals to identify research-based services to help children succeed academically- socially- behaviorally- and emotionally.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

School Psychologist will….

 

Evaluation/Paperwork Procedures

  1. Use assessment techniques and practices that the profession considers to be responsible and research-based. This will include:
    • Informed parent consent
    • Using testing instruments with up-to-date normative data.
    • Completing a comprehensive evaluations including GRIOT.
    • Remaining up-to-date on KSDE exceptionality eligibility criteria and practices.
    • Conducting valid and fair assessments in regards to a student’s developmental- disabilities- linguistic- cultural and experiential background and select- administer and interpret assessments in light of those characteristics.
  2. Complete required paperwork (evaluations- testing consent- reports- prior written notices- etc.) in a timely manner and in accordance with Special Education law and the Seaman district policies and procedures.

  1. Will respect a person’s right to determine whether to disclose private information and minimize intrusions on privacy.
  2. Respect the privacy of school psychological records.

 

Ethics

  1. Recognize the strengths and limitations of their training and experience- engaging only in practice for which they are qualified and will be honest with their qualifications to others.
  2. Accept responsibility for the appropriateness of their practices- decisions and recommendations and will monitor the effectiveness of their services.
  3. Be aware and cautious of the impact of relationships and conflict of interest while providing psychological services.
  4. Engage in continued professional development and remain current on best practice procedures.

 

School- family- student and community culture

  1. Encourage and promote parental and participation in decisions affecting their child’s education.
  2. Use their expertise to cultivate a school and community climate that is safe and welcoming to all persons. This will include all children’s right to have an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from school programs.
  3. Work with multi-disciplinary teams- including community health and social welfare agencies to understand the child holistically.
  4. Provide effective services and systems consultation; school psychologists are knowledgeable about the organization- philosophy- goals- objectives- culture- and methodologies of the settings in which they provide services.
  5. Attend staff- professional and interagency meetings.
  6. Develop partnerships and networks with community service providers and agencies to provide seamless services to children and families.
  7. Are knowledgeable of the Special Education law and are a responsible party in sharing this knowledge to other professionals and families.
