Childcare Assistant: $10.35/ hour. Program operation starts in August and ends in May with the option to continue into the summer if there is a summer program. Hours of employment are 6:45am- 8:40am and 3:30pm- 6:00pm during school year. Summer hours of employment are 6:45am-6:00pm.Working hours can be scheduled according to individual needs, such as only working before school or after school or working both shifts.

 

Qualifications: Prefer some hours in education and experience working with children. Must have effective communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students and fellow employees.

 

Duties include but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Must be able to pass a KBI/DCF background check.
  • Follow directions and daily agenda as designated by the Program Director and/or Program Assistant.
  • Supervise groups of children in the program during hours of operation during all activities.
  • Implements prepared program plans, conducts assigned activities, and cleans up area.
  • Conducts conflict mediation/resolution and discipline as necessary, following protocol.
  • Prepares areas for serving snack, prepares and serves snack and cleans up snack area once meals are over.
  • Provides basic first aid in emergency settings.
  • Able to be CPR certified when training is provided.
  • Works effectively with others to create a harmonious and productive workplace.
  • Arrives promptly and adheres to scheduled hours.
  • Provides specialized care for special needs children after training.
  • Assists children with homework as assigned.
  • Supervises children on the playground during play time.
  • Other duties as assigned such as planning.
