Riverton USD 404 Schools are accepting applications for the position of Network and Systems Administrator.  The primary role of the Network & Systems Administrator is to provide help desk support for end-users- as well as conduct installations- upgrades- monitoring and maintenance of the network and server infrastructure in order to optimize network performance and functionality.  The Network Administrator establishes and maintains documentation of the District’s network and systems architecture- operating systems software- and communication specifications- as well as evaluates changes to current and future network requirements to meet the needs of the District.

Job Description - Network and Systems Administrator

 

Purpose

The primary role of the Network & Systems Administrator is to provide help desk support for end-users- as well as conduct installations- upgrades- monitoring and maintenance of the network and server infrastructure in order to optimize network performance and functionality.  The Network Administrator establishes and maintains documentation of the District’s network and systems architecture- operating systems software- and communication specifications- as well as evaluates changes to current and future network requirements to meet the needs of the District.

Length of contract as determined by USD 404 Board of Education

Salary and benefits as established by USD 404 Board of Education

 

 

Qualifications

  • Experience with electronic equipment
  • Experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11- including but not limited to imaging- repair- and troubleshooting is required.  This includes hardware and software
  • Experience with Windows Server 2012- 2016- and 2019 is required for hardware and virtual server environments (Hyper-V)
  • Experience with Chromebooks including but not limited to powerwashing- repair- and troubleshooting is preferred.  This includes hardware and software
  • Experience with Google Admin Console and Workspace preferred
  • Working knowledge of LAN- WAN- and Internet network design
  • Ability to use the English language correctly and effectively to communicate technical issues with non-technical persons
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Desire to increase professional knowledge and skills

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Communicate information to district staff in a timely and effective manner.
  2. Installing- configuring and maintaining district computers- notebooks and peripherals such as printers- televisions- interactive panels- etc.; manage network connections.
  3. Assist the Technology Director with maintaining an inventory of all instructional and administrative technology equipment.
  4. Manage the day-to-day operation of the LAN- wireless access- filtering- and Internet access. 
  5. Install- configure- maintain- and upgrade servers- firewalls- routers- switches- wireless access points- and other network equipment- including backup and data recovery.  Oversee reconfigurations of network topology when needed as well as troubleshoot hardware failures and traffic management issues- speed- and utilization.
  6. Create- maintain- and disable/remove network accounts and home directories- shared directories and assign permissions for groups of network users; assign rights for users based on user responsibilities; change passwords for users when necessary; and place appropriate restrictions on accounts or access to resources on the network.
  7. Assist with managing user accounts within applications purchased by the district.
  8. Keep all network documentation accurate and up-to-date- including documentation of IP addresses and assignments to network peripherals.
  9. Assist with evaluation and implementation of new hardware- software- and other technologies for the district.
  10. Assist with training staff to properly use district devices and technology.
  11. Assist with maintenance- troubleshooting- and coordination with outside vendors of the District’s security systems (door access systems and video surveillance) as well as sound systems in auditorium and gymnasium areas.
  12. Stay abreast of new technology-based concepts- products- and support information for increased productivity and cost savings.

 

General Responsibilities

  1. Ability to observe and follow all school District policies at all times.
  2. Ability to keep current on new technology and receive appropriate training to administer computer systems and audiovisual equipment.
  3. Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative- courteous- and timely manner.
  4. Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
  5. Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies- including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  6. Ability and willingness to perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or administrative staff.

 

 

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing including repetitive motions and computer eye fatigue
  • Requires physical exertion to manually move- lift- carry- pull- or push heavy objects or materials weighing no more than 60 lbs.
  • Requires stooping- bending- and reaching
  • Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced- multi-faceted educational environment with numerous interruptions
  • Requires traveling to various locations within the District and occasionally to locations outside of the District
  • Ability to provide safe physical management (restrain) of students if necessary

Riverton U.S.D. 404 is located in an unincorporated community in the southeast corner of Kansas.  The district borders both Oklahoma and Missouri and encompasses approximately 60 square miles.  Enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is  696 and the High School competes in the 3A classification.
