We are an organization focused on supporting the mission of overall student growth and development through student participation in education-based athletic and activity programs.  This is accomplished through the administration of interscholastic activities, festivals, clinics, and contests among member schools, culminating with state championship events.

This Administrative Assistant position is responsible to provide office support for the administration of designated sports and activities sanctioned by the KSHSAA.  This position also provides support for various general office operations duties.  This person works with and under the direction of KSHSAA administrative staff members who direct activities, the Executive Director, and the Director of Operations.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate electronic data management using custom KSHSAA software systems and Microsoft Office products
  2. Prepare and distribute electronic and hard copy communications with member schools and officials
  3. Prepare and monitor coach/sponsor education/training requirements
  4. Meeting planning & preparation (on-site and off-site meetings)
  5. Assist in planning and preparation of postseason events
  6. Provide grammatical and stylistic proofing of printed materials and electronic communications
  7. Maintain the Gallery of Champions
  8. Prepare and organize large mailings
  9. Inventory management
  10. Provide back-up receptionist station coverage when needed

Summary of Key Qualifications:

  1. A commitment to providing exceptional customer service to the member schools and registered contest officials of the KSHSAA.
  2. Be an exceptional verbal and digital communicator with member schools, officials, and staff.
  3. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite of products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Experience with Publisher and Access will also be valuable.
  4. Be an exceptional team player, while still being productive working independently.
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  6. Comfortable managing large volumes of data in various electronic formats.
  7. Willing to embrace the opportunity to learn new skills and office technology.
  8. Be detail oriented and possess excellent proof-reading skills.
  9. Have an interest in interscholastic activities and/or a desire to learn more about interscholastic activities and the KSHSAA.
  10. Possess the highest level of ethics and integrity.
  11. Ability to work onsite in Topeka, KS, Monday – Friday.
  12. Physically capable of lifting to 20-30 lbs.

General range: $35,000 - $45,000 annually

The KSHSAA is a private/non-profit association of accredited member schools, whose purpose is to administer a program of interscholastic activities, festivals, clinics and contests among member schools. The KSHSAA offers state championships in 15 sports, and ten additional championships in music activities, debate, speech and drama, and scholars bowl. Of particular importance are efforts to elevate standards of good sportsmanship and to encourage growth of good citizenship among students and spectators. 

The Association is comprised of approximately 350 senior high and 400 middle/junior high member schools. Member schools must be accredited and are both public and private schools.
