Instructor of Mathematics - Generalist (FAC3105)

Essential Functions

  1. Teach courses in mathematics. Course schedule will vary from semester to semester and may include a combination of contemporary math, algebra, trigonometry, statistics and/or calculus.  Assignments may include evening courses and teaching via alternative delivery systems, such as online.
  2. Assist in selecting textbooks, developing curricula, completing reports, tracking and entering assessment data.
  3. Plan and implement appropriate activities to supplement instruction.
  4. Plan, revise, and update curricula.
  5. Maintain skills in teaching methods and course development as recommended by HutchCC.
  6. Participate, as possible, in faculty development activities at the college and within state and regional organizations.
  7. Serve actively on institutional committees.
  8. Maintain records and files as requested by the department and/or Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  9. Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  10. Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

 Secondary

  1.  May advise current and prospective students in appropriate curricula.
  2. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chairperson or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters Degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education or Masters Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Mathematics required.
  2. Evidence of effective teaching experience in mathematics at the high school and/or collegiate level preferred.
  3. Mathematics technology/computer literacy preferred.
  4. Ability to teach basic math skills, incorporate adult learning theory, and develop teaching/learning strategies to improve student persistence and retention.
  5. Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems including online and/or other distance education modes.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, faculty and other HutchCC stakeholders.
  7. Ability to plan, revise, and update curricula.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.
  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality in a student-centered environment.
  10. Physical requirements include excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/Indoor work environment
  11. Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

Transcripts The hired candidate will be required to submit official, non-issued to student, transcripts.

Salary Information
