Counselor - MVPS 2023-2024

We are seeking a school counselor for the Maize Virtual Preparatory School.  This person will provide social, personal, and educational counseling to students and serve as the team leader for the high school team.

 

Performance Responsibilities:  

  • Work with students to develop their Individual Plan of Study (IPOS), by guiding students in the organization and analysis of their interests, aptitudes, abilities and personality characteristics for vocation and educational planning.
  • Collaborate with high schools staff to establish opportunities for students to meet individual educational needs and goals.
  • Serve as the high school team leader including facilitating weekly collaboration amongst high school teachers.
  • Compile and study occupational, education, and economic information to aid students in making and carrying out vocational and educational objectives.
  • Perform individual counseling with students.
  • Provide placement and follow up services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of other services within the school or outside the school, available to students and their families.  
  • Orient new students to the overall school program.  
  • Assist with coordination of student organizations and co-curricular activities within the school.  
  • Serve as a part of the MVPS leadership team and a consultant to the administration.  
  • Participate with teachers in the development and modification of the curriculum.  
  • Cooperate with administrators in the development and modification of the school curriculum.
  • Consult with parents and provide parent education through different resources.  
  • Travel expected

Qualifications:

  • Licensed School Counselor through KSDE
  • Must pass background check, drug screen, and TB test

Benefits Information

$50,000 Life Insurance Policy. For Health Insurance, if choose the District Health Insurance the District pays $380.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single coverage. $470.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single + spouse or child coverage. $570.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single + family coverage

The district offers a base salary of $46,050 or based on experience/credentials and contributes $380 per month toward district provided health insurance.
