South Gray Schools is accepting applications for a 5-12 Band and HS Vocal teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. Additional supplemental duties that are available could include coaching sports or sponsoring activities. Applicants must be in possession of or able to obtain a Kansas Teaching License.

Montezuma and Copeland are currently participating in a cooperative sharing agreement. They have been in this agreement for 29 years. Each school houses PK-5. Copeland houses the Junior High 6-8 and Montezuma houses the HS 9-12. Montezuma’s enrollment is 200 PK-5 and 9-12 and Copeland’s enrollment is 169 students PK-8. Both districts are members of the High Plains Cooperative for Special Education Cooperative based in Ulysses, and the Southwest Plains Regional Service Center in Sublette.

South Gray has had a long standing tradition of outstanding music programs. It is not uncommon for our instrumental music program to have strong numbers and both the bands and the choirs receive consistent top ratings at all music festivals.

The South Gray community is a strong supporter of our music and fine arts programs. Concerts and Pep Band events are always very well attended. The Montezuma High School will have a brand new facility in the fall of 2023 and this includes a new band/choir room with practice rooms.

The 1A high school offers a variety of programs for students including major sports: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Track, Golf, Cross Country. Our girls Cross Country team was the 2022 State 1A Champions and again it is not uncommon for our teams to have a showing at State events. We also offer FCCLA, FCA, NHS, Scholar’s Bowl, KAYS, Student Council, and Forensics. High School students have dual credit opportunities with college classes. Our families and community support our schools and students second to none.

We have 1-1 implementation in the HS with Macbooks and chromebooks in the JH. Smart TV’s are in all classrooms.

Come check out all that South Gray has to offer. It is a great place to teach, live, and raise a family.
