Summary: The Assistant Principal provides professional leadership in organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating a creative school program. The Assistant Principal also serves as the Activities Director and coordinates school activities to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure rewarding experiences for students. Qualifications/Education: - A valid building-level license issued by the Kansas State Board of Education
- Masters degree from an accredited college/university in Educational Administration including hours in Athletic Administration
- Current Kansas State Teaching Certificate
- Minimum of (2) two years certified teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school
- Coaching experience in athletics and/or activities
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

Assistant Principal Responsibilities: - Assumes responsibility for student discipline with assistance and support from the principal and attends to student rights due and due process
- Conduct conferences with students, teachers, and parents to resolve student discipline problems
- Monitor and enforce the attendance policy with appropriate follow up
- Reports students who are truant to the proper state agency
- Shares supervision responsibilities for all school activities with the principal
- Assists Principal in improving the curriculum, making classroom visitations, teacher observations, and evaluations
- Other duties assigned by the Superintendent or Building Principal
Athletic Director Responsibilities: - Scheduling athletic events and informing the public. Events and dates to be approved by the principal.
- Preparation of contracts for officials
- Secures officials, police security, and EMS services for events
- Assumes responsibility for supervision of events as directed by the principal
- Compilation, preparation, and distribution of programs for events
- Assigns workers for athletic events
- Oversee and coordinate with maintenance for preparation of school facilities for events
- Compilation of data for eligibility lists, including KSHAA reports, and verifies eligibility
- Responsible for transportation arrangements for event trips and meal and lodging when necessary
- Oversee coaches maintaining inventory, storage, and treatment and care of athletic equipment and supplies
- Assists in the selection, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of athletic coaches and support staff members
- Facilitate with coaches to update records of the results of all senior high school athletic contests, and maintains a record file of all award winners, stating the date and type of the award, including athletic scholarships
- Develops and places into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities as directed by the principal
- Oversees the physical examination requirements for the participation in each sport and verifies each athletes eligibility
- Monitors eligibility of all transfer students
- Involvement in formation of training rules. Act as mediator in situations that arise as conflicts to such rules. Responsible for providing information to the parent.
- Act as host to referees, visiting teams, and fans
- Act as mediator on any conflict between coaches and referees, fans and referees, or players
- Represent the school at games assigned away from home
- Develop the budget for all athletic activities working closely with the head coaches and principal. Be prepared to present athletic budget reports to the superintendent and Board of Education
- Work with the principal to assign administrative supervisors for activities that the athletic director or principal will not attend
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions: - Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and stand/walk frequently
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment
- Must be able to work outside normal school hours
- Must be able to work in noisy environments with interruptions
Terms of Employment: Negotiated Contract Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Educations policy concerning evaluation of certified personnel.
