Purpose Statement

The School Psychologist supports the instructional program with specific responsibilities for measuring and interpreting the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social-emotional development of children; interpreting results of psychological evaluations; interpreting and applying state and federal codes; and developing strategies and interventions to address the special education needs of eligible students.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Administers standardized and supplemental assessments for the purpose of measuring the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social-emotional development of children and determining eligibility for services in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Assesses student’s functional capabilities for the purpose of determining students’ functional level and developing recommendations and placement.
  3. Collaborates with internal and external personnel to support the implementation and maintenance of services.
  4. Communicates with students, parents, teachers, and other personnel to evaluate situations, solve problems, and resolve conflicts.
  5. Compiles information from a variety of sources (e.g. teachers, nurses, mental health agencies, other professionals; maintains student files for caseload, etc.) and produces comprehensive evaluation reports in compliance with established guidelines.
  6. Consults with teachers, parents personnel, and outside professionals to provide requested information, develop plans for services, and make recommendations.  
  7. Coordinates assigned activities (e.g. IEP meetings, evaluations, etc.) and completes related activities in a timely manner and in accordance with legal requirements.
  8. Counsels students, parents, and guardians to support improved student outcomes.
  9. Facilitates meetings, processes, etc. (e.g. evaluations, IEPs, etc.) while meeting curriculum guidelines and ensuring that state and federal mandates are achieved.
  10. Oversees assigned secretary’s performance and achieves overall objectives of the department.
  11. Participates in meetings, workshops, clinics, and seminars as assigned (e.g. general education intervention meetings, birth to three clinics, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  12. Prepares a wide variety of complex written materials (e.g. extension requests, correspondence, memos, behavior plans, Medicaid billings, reports, required documentation, Psych Ed Summary, Psych Report, etc.) to document activities, provide written reference, and convey information.
  13. Researches resources and methods to support the appropriate approach for addressing student`s functional goals.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

Ability to perform basic math including calculations using fractions, ratios and percents

Ability to organize work, set priorities and meet deadlines

Ability to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group

Knowledge of appropriate codes, policies, regulations and laws

Knowledge of psychology and educational principles; stages of child development; assessment

techniques; and learning strategies.

Job-related experience within a specialized field is required

 

Physical Demands, Working Environment

This position generally requires the following physical demands: occasional lifting and carrying up to twenty (20) pounds, some pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 15% walking, and 5% standing.

 

Attendance

All employees are expected to maintain satisfactory attendance and report to work on time every day.  Frequent unscheduled absences, including late arrivals and early departures, are grounds for discipline, up to and including discharge.

$50,000 Life Insurance Policy. For Health Insurance, if choose the District Health Insurance the District pays $380.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single coverage. $470.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single + spouse or child coverage. $570.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single + family coverage

The district offers a base salary of $46,050 or based on experience/credentials and contributes $380 per month toward district provided health insurance.
