Literacy Interventionist-Chase Middle School

Reports to:  Principal

 

Purpose:  Provides remedial instruction to students who need additional instruction in literacy.

 

Qualifications

  • Meet requirements of a Kansas Teaching License
  • Knowledge of mathematics the Common Core State Standards- intervention strategies- assessments and intervention resources
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students- school personnel and parents
  • ESOL endorsement preferred

Physical and Emotional Requirements:  Speaking- hearing- visual- reading- writing- word processing- mobility- consistency of temperament- ability to problem solve and work in stress providing environments.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver targeted instruction in a small group- individual- and/or classroom setting
  • Deliver and use assessment results to diagnose areas of deficit and make instructional decisions that address students’ weaknesses
  • Use research based strategies that meet students’ learning needs and support core instruction
  • Coordinate planning and communicate students’ performance with teachers- math coach- principal and curriculum coordinator
  • Use district-approved instructional resources- which includes both primary and supplemental resources
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records for reporting student progress to teachers and parents
  • Assist in the assigning and scheduling of students

 

Terms of Employment:  9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

 

Evaluation:  Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Support Service Personnel
