REPORTS TO:  PRINCIPAL
 
JOB GOAL:  To provide all students with an enriched media center environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual growth, and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of media center resources.  
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborate with staff, students, parents/guardians, and community members in a flexible environment
  2. Teach media skills and technology literacy to students to be proficient media users
  3. Knowledge of civil rights relating to free access to materials and copyright laws.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to work with technology and assist integration in the classroom.
  6. Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  7. Organize, catalogue, display, distribute and produce instructional materials.
  8. Select and provide access to wide variety of materials which meet the needs of various learning situations.
  9. Knowledge of curricular areas is essential in order to serve the interdisciplinary needs of students and staff
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Salary and length of contract to be established by the board of education.
 
EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Ability to supervise the media center to which assigned
  • Ability to assist students and teachers in the selection of books and instructional materials and make the media center materials available to supplement the instructional program
  • Ability to maintain a system for cataloging all media center materials and instruct teachers and students in the use of the system
