Job Summary

The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement at Carbondale Attendance Center in grades four through eight in the area of Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. 

 

Essential Job Functions

• Assumes primary responsibility for implementation of the comprehensive mathematics support program at Carbondale Attendance Center in grades four through eight

• Assists teachers, administration, and families with identifying students for placement in intervention groups, including diagnostic assessments as needed

• Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems

• Collaborates with staff to identify research-based interventions and best practices for individual and small groups of students

• Uses data to provide high quality mathematics instruction to students and small groups to bring their skills to grade-level

• Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress

• Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress

• Attends the appropriate trainings to improve knowledge and skills

• Provides professional development for building staff as needed 

• Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications 

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested.

• Current Kansas Licensure in mathematics and/or grade levels four through eight

• Three years or more of successful classroom teaching experience 

• Direct experience in planning and implementation of Multi-tiered Systems of Support preferred

• Direct experience with Illustrative Math preferred

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to apply instructional strategies on differentiation

• Strong organizational skills

• Ability to multitask needs between multiple grade levels

• Knowledge of collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special education

• Ability to collect data and make course placement recommendation for students

• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with students, families, and staff

 

Contract 

• Teacher standard contract plus fifteen additional duty days (191 days total)
