Do you enjoy rural small schools?  If you do, you are looking at the right place!  Brewster is working to fill a K-12 Music Teacher opening.  This position covers K-12 vocal classes and 5-12 band.  The Brewster music program has grown, developed, and blossomed under the direction of Sara Chambers.  Students in Brewster now have a strong musical background. We are looking for that musician who can continue to build and strengthen our music program and move us to even greater heights!  

A part-time contract is a possibility.  Vocal or band-only teachers may also be considered.

The base salary for 2021-2022 is $35,000. Years of teaching service will be considered for salary schedule placement.

Brewster is a small, rural community halfway between Colby and Goodland in Northwest Kansas.  We are a mile north of I-70 which will link you up to eastern Kansas or Colorado.  We are approximately three hours from Denver and Colorado Springs to the west.  Brewster is a 1A school for classifications purposes.  We have a grocery store, bakery, fueling station, and bank in town for convenience.  Brewster is home to S & T Communications, the telecommunications provider for much of northwest Kansas. 

Brewster operates on a four-day week schedule, Monday through Thursday.  Friday is typically our off day. Teachers are contracted for 154 school days and our salary schedule is competitive.  Our teacher-contracted school day runs from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.  

Our staff is dedicated and experienced with a mix of new and seasoned teachers.  

Brewster has a strong tradition of excellence both inside and outside of the classrooms.  We have a dynamic student body and attract a variety of students from outside of our school district boundaries.   Academically, we offer our students all required state core courses; Foreign Language (online), Agriculture classes, and Art, and the complete offerings to allow for Kansas Regents Qualifications and Scholars. We also offer college dual credit courses for our juniors and seniors.  Some of our juniors and seniors spend their mornings at the technical college in Goodland and finish out their day with high school classes in the afternoons.  

Our high school students have a variety of activities available to them including Student Government, National Honor Society, FFA, Scholar`s Bowl,  Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Forensics, Basketball, and Track & Field.
