Dodge City Public Schools is seeking a Counselor who through utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, will promote student success, provide preventative services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, personal and social development for all students.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of community linkages and referrals for student supportive services.

Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment;

Knowledge of graduation requirements; school policies and procedures; middle college model objectives and philosophy;

Knowledge of: legal and ethical practices and guidelines in Counseling; community information and referral services;

Experience in a school environment.

Is capable of working with small and large classroom groups

Is patient and caring

Possesses conflict resolution skills

Ability to listen to and communicate with parents and see parents as a resources

Professional manner and appearance

A team player with experience working in a collaborative environment

Knowledge of child development – specifically physical, emotional and developmental patterns

Additional Qualifications

 

High expectation for all students

Desire to continue career improvement.

Kansas Certification of Health Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).

Current Kansas Teaching Certificate or license on file in the Central Office with counseling endorsement required.

Master’s degree in school counseling from an accredited college required.
