Greenbush Special Services has a full-time pediatric audiology position open in the Topeka area. This position includes clinical-based pediatric services in Topeka 1-2 days a week and providing educational audiology services 2-3 days per week. This is an excellent opportunity for an audiologist wishing to work with children from birth through high school in the school, home, and clinical settings while having flexibility within their schedules.

Job Summary: The primary role of the Educational Audiologist is to provide direct and consultative audiology services to children from birth through high school in the school, home and/or clinical settings.

Valid driver’s license required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

1. Master’s Degree or Doctorate (AuD) in Audiology from an accredited college/university
2. Hold or be eligible to obtain a Kansas Audiology License
3. Ability to travel between sites on a daily basis
4. Must be able to change schedule and daily routines on short notice
5. Effectively communicate solutions to complex problems

Preferred:

1. Hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association or its equivalent
2. Knowledge of technology and video conferencing

RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:

1. Provide community leadership to ensure that all infants, toddlers, and youth with impaired hearing are promptly identified, evaluated, and provided with appropriate intervention services.
2. Collaborate as requested with community agencies (ie. hospitals, health departments, Early Head Start, Birth to Three, Parents as Teachers) for hearing services and training. Manage the calibration of audiometric equipment.
3. Conduct comprehensive audiological evaluations in school and clinical settings. Interpret audiological assessment results to parents and school personnel.
4. Make appropriate referrals for further audiological, communication, educational, psychosocial, or medical assessment.
5. Serve as a member of the IEP, SIT and 504 team in the evaluation and identification process. Make recommendations regarding placement, related service needs, communication needs, and modification of classroom environments for students with hearing impairments or other auditory impairments.
6. Perform Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing and interpretation.
7. Ensure proper fit and functioning of hearing aids, cochlear implants, FM systems, classroom amplification and assistive listening devices and other technology.
8. Serve as a member of the team in development of an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for infants and toddlers. Provide
home-based early intervention services in the areas of amplification, methods of communication, auditory development, speech and language, and early literacy.

7. Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
8. Demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.
9. Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.
10. Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.
11. Regular and predictive attendance in designated work location as determined by the Executive Director or designee.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Lifting up to 40 pounds.
2. Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
3. Sit/stand for long periods of time.
4. Work in loud/stressful environments.
5. Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.
6. Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
7. Being exposed to hazardous materials.
8. Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and that are not ADA compliant.
