First Grade Teacher

John Paul II School is seeking a nurturing and dedicated First Grade Teacher to join our elementary education team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, a commitment to Catholic values, and the ability to create a warm and supportive learning environment where young students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. Responsibilities:

1. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate and engaging curriculum aligned with state standards and the school's Catholic mission and values.
2. Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning journey.
3. Design and deliver differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners, including those with varying abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds.
4. Foster language development, literacy skills, and a love of learning through interactive read-alouds, phonics instruction, writing activities, and hands-on experiences.
5. Integrate Catholic faith and values into daily lessons and activities, incorporating prayer, Scripture, and moral teachings into the curriculum.
6. Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment tools, and use data to inform instructional planning and differentiation.
7. Establish positive partnerships with parents/guardians through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and involvement in school events and activities.
8. Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units, share best practices, and support the holistic development of students.
9. Maintain a well-organized and stimulating classroom environment that promotes independence, responsibility, and a sense of belonging.
10. Participate in school-wide events, professional development opportunities, and ongoing reflection to continuously improve teaching practices and student outcomes.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
2. Valid teaching license/certification in elementary education (or eligible for licensure/certification).
3. Strong understanding of early childhood development, literacy development, and best practices in elementary education.
4. Commitment to the Catholic faith and the integration of faith into teaching and learning.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young children, parents, and colleagues.
6. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their social-emotional growth.
7. Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
8. Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth mindset in response to the needs of young learners and changing educational contexts.
9. Practicing Catholic preferred.
