John Paul II School is seeking a nurturing and dedicated First Grade Teacher to join our elementary education team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, a commitment to Catholic values, and the ability to create a warm and supportive learning environment where young students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. Responsibilities: - Plan and implement developmentally appropriate and engaging curriculum aligned with state standards and the school's Catholic mission and values.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning journey.
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners, including those with varying abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds.
- Foster language development, literacy skills, and a love of learning through interactive read-alouds, phonics instruction, writing activities, and hands-on experiences.
- Integrate Catholic faith and values into daily lessons and activities, incorporating prayer, Scripture, and moral teachings into the curriculum.
- Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment tools, and use data to inform instructional planning and differentiation.
- Establish positive partnerships with parents/guardians through regular communication, parent-teacher conferences, and involvement in school events and activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary units, share best practices, and support the holistic development of students.
- Maintain a well-organized and stimulating classroom environment that promotes independence, responsibility, and a sense of belonging.
- Participate in school-wide events, professional development opportunities, and ongoing reflection to continuously improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching license/certification in elementary education (or eligible for licensure/certification).
- Strong understanding of early childhood development, literacy development, and best practices in elementary education.
- Commitment to the Catholic faith and the integration of faith into teaching and learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their social-emotional growth.
- Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a growth mindset in response to the needs of young learners and changing educational contexts.
- Practicing Catholic preferred.
