High School Lead PrincipalTonganoxie USD 464 • www.tong464.org Tonganoxie USD 464 is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as lead principal of Tonganoxie high School, grades 9-12, for the 2022-23 year. Interviews to begin as applications are received.
Reports to/Supervised by: Superintendent of Schools
Job Goal: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to promote the educational development of the individual student and, through that development, student achievement that ensures school accreditation. The degree of freedom to act is significant, as many decisions will be made using administrative discretion with district policy serving only as a guide, not a blueprint, for action. Achieving academic excellence requires that the school principal work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school staff hired by the Board of Education, and to communicate effectively with parents. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations. Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in Educational Administration required • Kansas licensure in building-level leadership • Successful prior relevant experience as a classroom teacher and administrator • Broad working knowledge of child development, learning theory, curriculum research, testing and measurement, strategic planning, professional staff development, personnel practices, and managing a building budget • Skills in quantitative analysis and evaluation • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills; experience facilitating communication between divergent groups and in group decision-making • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations • Effective administrative, leadership, and management skills • Excellent speaking, writing, and technology skills • Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others, including the ability to communicate effectively with broad and diverse audiences • Ability to handle a fast-paced, intense work environment • Ability to manage job responsibilities and meet the established district outcomes
