K-5 Special Education Director/TeacherSt. Francis USD 297 • www.usd297.org St. Francis, USD 297, is looking for an ambitious and fully qualified Kindergarten-5th grade special education director/teacher to join our school beginning August 2022. This certified teacher would be responsible for setting learning goals for eligible students, assessing student progress, and recording the necessary evaluations. This individual would be responsible for completing academic testing, observations, and interviews for initial evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education service. Collaboration with other classroom teachers, the school psychologist, speech pathologist, OT/PT, and/or school behavior specialist will be necessary to provide an integrated plan for developing the capabilities of the students. The individual will work closely with the Northwest Kansas Educational Service Center to maintain the IEPs and evaluations, complete required in-services, and maintain all state and federal regulations on special education. The special education teacher will be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with parents on the progress of their students, while leading IEP meetings. The supervision of multiple paraprofessionals will also be required. The special education teacher may also be responsible for working one-on-one with eligible students and/or teaching math and reading small group interventions throughout the day. Other responsibilities may include supervising students before and after school, monitoring the lunchroom, etc. St. Francis has a collegial staff and a nurturing, helpful administrative team. Benefits Information USD 297 pays $470 toward a single insurance policy and $940 toward a family insurance policy.
Salary Information The starting salary is $38,500, but all candidates will be placed on the salary schedule according to education and experience.
