JOB TITLE: Kansas MTSS and Alignment Math Specialist DEPARTMENT: Kansas Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) LOCATION: Keystone Learning Services REPORTS TO: Kansas MTSS and Alignment Co-Directors
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITES: This position will work within a team of Math Specialists to clearly define the structures, processes, and practices of a school’s Building Leadership Team (BLT) most critical for co-leading and implementing improvement efforts within the content area of math. The BLT will collaborate with Kansas MTSS and Alignment Math Specialists to embed systemic structures and processes, creating a focused, coherent, and aligned system.
Kansas MTSS and Alignment Math Specialists will also facilitate the BLT through long-term capacity-building efforts related to the areas below but not limited to:
? deep knowledge in mathematics ? evidence-based practices ? systems change and effective school improvement practices ? coaching/facilitation roles ? the Science of Math ? Kansas curricular standards
This position will require close work with Kansas MTSS and Alignment Leadership and staff, KSDE Leadership and staff, school building leadership and staff, other TASN Project staff and Education Service Center staff to determine, develop, deliver, and implement the appropriate scope of support to school systems across the state of Kansas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Participate in activities to support and move forward KSDE’s vision of coherence and alignment of a school improvement process for school systems to utilize · Coordinate efforts for integration of special education and other at-risk student populations into the Kansas MTSS framework · Coordinate efforts for integration of supports to build the capacity of school leaders and staff to provide for equity and access for all students within the processes created · Collaborate with other TASN projects to promote an aligned process of improvement · Assist in the development and delivery of statewide outcome improvement workshops · Ensuring feedback loops are developed and used by school systems while enacting effective, coherent processes that continually meet the needs of all students and staff · Understanding how to utilize inquiry/impact cycles · Ensuring the school system’s effective use of a decision-making method · Build and strengthen the capacity for teacher clarity and self and collective efficacy within the processes created · Build, maintain, and sustain appropriate professional relationships with colleagues and clients through times of agreement and times of dissonance
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: · Participate in the development and support of educational projects identified and requested by KSDE’s Special Education and Title Services Team or the Project’s Leadership · Pursue professional development that supports the goals of the Kansas MTSS & Alignment Project at the state and national levels · Present at state and national conferences when appropriate, and upon request · Carry out other duties as assigned
CONSULTS WITH: · Kansas State Department of Education, Special Educational and Title Services Team · Kansas MTSS & Alignment Project Leadership and Staff · District and Building Level Administrators and Staff · TASN Staff · Renowned Consultants, Authors, Researchers, Etc.
QUALIFICATIONS: · Direct experience at the building and/or district level within a Multi-Tier System of Supports or Response to Intervention principles and the use of evidence-based practices · Strong working knowledge of systems change, results based staff development, adult learning theory, group facilitation, basic evaluation techniques and problem solving · Strong working knowledge of the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation 2.0 (KESA 2.0) process · Strong working knowledge of the Science of Math · Strong working knowledge of current education research and practices · Actively involved in development of own professional learning · Strong working knowledge of data-based decision making · Degree in education required · Advanced degree in education preferred · Current Kansas teaching license (or Kansas eligible) required · Prior teaching experience in the area of mathematics required
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: · Regular and extensive traveling (approximately 70%) across the state of Kansas · Approximately 30% overnight travel · Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) · Proficiency with Google Suite and components · Excellent organization and time management skills · Ability to clearly communicate technical information in verbal and written form · Ability to lift and transfer up to 40 pounds
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month contract to be completed between July 1st and June 30th. Salary will be based upon education and experience.
EVALUATION: Job performance will be reviewed by the Kansas MTSS & Alignment Co-Directors with input from Keystone Learning Services Executive Director. Keystone Learning Services will be accepting applications until position is filled.
