Position Title: IT and Technology Teacher

School: John Paul II Catholic School

Position Overview:


 

The IT and Technology Teacher at John Paul II Catholic School is responsible for delivering comprehensive technology education to students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The role involves designing and implementing engaging lessons that integrate technology into various subject areas, fostering digital literacy, and providing technical support to students and staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both IT and education, with a commitment to the values and mission of a Catholic educational institution.


 

Key Responsibilities:


 

Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a cohesive technology curriculum that aligns with state standards, integrates Catholic values, and meets the needs of students at different grade levels.


 

Instruction: Deliver effective instruction in IT and technology concepts, including but not limited to computer applications, programming, digital citizenship, internet safety, and multimedia creation.


 

Integration: Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate technology into various subject areas, enhancing student learning and engagement across the curriculum.


 

Assessment: Administer assessments to measure student progress and achievement in technology skills and concepts.


 

Technical Support: Serve as the main resource, point of contact and subject matter expert to all aspects in Technology. Which includes providing technical support to students and staff. 


 

Professional Development: Stay current with developments in educational technology and participate in all JPII professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.


 

Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on technology curriculum, student progress, and opportunities for parental involvement.


 

Digital Citizenship: Promote responsible and ethical use of technology, emphasizing Catholic values such as respect, integrity, and compassion in online interactions.


 

Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment conducive to the effective use of technology for teaching and learning.


 

Qualifications:

Competence in the field of: Information Technology, Computer Science

Teaching certification or licensure (preferred)

Experience teaching technology to elementary and/or middle school students

Proficiency with educational technology tools and software applications, specifically Google Classroom

Technology skills, including the ability to use all applicable tools and apply them appropriately. 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Commitment to the mission and values of a Catholic educational institution

 

Working Conditions:

This position primarily operates within a school environment.

Regular hours during each school day for an average of 4 hours per day with occasional evening or weekend work for school events such as Open House, Meet and Greet, Auction, or professional development. 

May require the ability to lift and move equipment, such as computers or AV devices.
