John Paul II School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Special Education/Resource Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse learners, particularly those with special needs, and possess a strong commitment to providing personalized support and instruction to help students reach their full potential. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the academic and social-emotional development of middle school students within a supportive and collaborative environment. Responsibilities: - Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, in collaboration with parents, general education teachers, and other support staff.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, including academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
- Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet the unique needs and learning styles of students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to differentiate instruction and modify curriculum as needed to ensure accessibility and promote student success.
- Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and data collection, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and behavior in compliance with school and district policies.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and solicit feedback.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and other collaborative planning sessions as needed.
- Collaborate with school psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to support the comprehensive needs of students with disabilities.
- Stay current with best practices, research, and developments in the field of special education, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching license/certification in Special Education (or eligible for licensure/certification).
- Previous experience working with middle school students with diverse learning needs, including those with learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, and other special needs.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and support staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and modify curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development in the field of special education.
