Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for an Instructional Specialist at Greenbush - Girard or Lawrence Office. Our Instructional Coaching Consortium provides member teachers and district and building leaders with regular, scheduled access to experienced instructional specialists and instructional coaching. This anticipated position would serve roughly 5-7 districts in our consortium. Doing so will help to improve the capacity of teachers to effectively design, deliver, and evaluate instructional practices. Additionally, this position seeks to provide continuous professional development to teachers and district and building leaders about critical areas of student learning including, but not limited to, high impact instructional strategies, literacy skills, evaluation of growth and achievement, and communicating student growth and achievement trends with stakeholder groups.

Job Summary:

The Instructional Specialist will assist school districts by substantially and effectively facilitating and providing assistance in developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum, instructional models and strategies, and use of assessments through professional development and continuous coaching with teachers and administrators.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Valid drivers license required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.

1. Must hold a current Kansas Teaching License.

2. Previous experience in implementing and evaluating effective curriculum design, instructional strategies, and use of assessments

 

Preferred:

1. Demonstrated ability to implement best practices and the motivation to set and achieve high-performance levels.

2. Reading Specialist endorsement, ESOL endorsement, and/or significant experience and/or expertise in literacy or instructional coaching.

3. Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing job skills and performance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

1. Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in multiple school districts.

2. Ability to communicate and work effectively and constructively with cohort districts and service center staff.

3. Ability to work with cohort districts on strategies that improve literacy instruction and student achievement.

4. Ability to serve as a resource to cohort administrators and other staff members for matters related to literacy (i.e. curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development).

5. Ability to report on the status of cohort programs and services at the request of cohort superintendents, the School Improvement Services Director or Assistant Director, or the Executive Director.

6. Ability to attend and provide professional development for administrators and teachers as requested by the cohort superintendents, the School Improvement Services Director or Assistant Director, or the Executive Director.

 

General Responsibilities:

3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

4. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.

5. Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.

6. Maintain professional relationships with families.

7. Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.

8. Demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.

9. Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.

10. Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.

11. Regular and predictive attendance in designated work location as determined by the Executive Director or designee.

12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Lifting up to ___20__ pounds.

2. Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.

3. Sit/stand for long periods of time.

4. Work in loud/stressful environments.

5. Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.

6. Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.

7. Being exposed to hazardous materials.

8. Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and that are not ADA compliant.
