Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for an Specialized Learning Services Supports Consultant.

Job Summary: Specialized Learning Services Supports Consultant will provide on-site and virtual coaching, technical assistance, and professional learning. The Specialized Learning Services Supports Consultant is charged with improving practices in the areas of social-emotional development, early intervention, and special education in ways that increase the knowledge and expertise of education staff, leading to improved services for all students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

A valid drivers license is required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.

  1. Masters Degree in Education Leadership, Special Education, Psychology, or related field of study.
  2. Current and valid Kansas license/certification.
  3. Minimum of five years experience in special education, early learning, social-emotional development, or administration.
  4. Thorough knowledge of Special Education law.

Preferred:

  1. Experience providing coaching, professional development, and technical assistance to peer and non-peer audiences.
  2. Experience in implementing and evaluating effective curriculum design, instructional strategies, and use of assessments.
  3. Solid understanding of the Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Framework, Alignment, and Structure for academic and social, and emotional.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  1. Coordinate and collaborate with diverse groups of professionals across multiple departments and organizations.
  2. Demonstrate proficient multi-tasking, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  3. Promote evidence-based best practices in implementing positive behavior intervention supports.
  4. Articulate specific tiered interventions to meet the needs of all learners.
  5. Coach staff to utilize instructional practices that promote supportive learning environments and build social and emotional skills.
  6. Utilize knowledge of adult learning styles and best practices for coaching and providing feedback.
  7. Develop respectful professional relationships, building trust with teachers and colleagues.
  8. Provide timely responses to requests for technical assistance.
  9. Display cultural competency and the ability to navigate and promote sensitivity to issues of equity.
  10. Exhibit passion and urgency for the critical role of special education supports, providers, and recipients.
  11. Communicate and work effectively and constructively with member districts and service center staff.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain timely documentation.
  2. Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center (SEKESC).
  3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  4. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.
  5. Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.
  6. Maintain professional relationships with families.
  7. Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  8. Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.
  9. Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.
  10. Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.
  11. Regular and predictive attendance in the designated work location as determined by the Executive Director or designee.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Lifting up to 40 pounds.
  2. Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  3. Sit/stand for long periods of time.
  4. Work in loud/stressful environments.
  5. Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.
  6. Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.
  7. Being exposed to hazardous materials.
  8. Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and that are not ADA compliant.
  9. Overnight travel may be required.
