Leavenworth U.S.D. #453 is currently seeking applications for a Process Coordinator for the 2024-25 school year.  Applicants should hold or be eligible for a valid Kansas teaching license with a special education endorsement.  Interested applicants should fill out the online application and attach any applicable documents.

 

Purpose:                  

 

Responsible for facilitating and coordinating district special education programs and services for students with disabilities.

 

Reports To:             Building Principal and Director of Special Education

 

Supervises:             Paraprofessionals

 

Salary:                    Based on Negotiated Agreement Salary Schedule

 

License:                  KSDE License with Special Education Endorsement

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  2. Current Kansas State Teaching Licensure with Special Education endorsement
  3. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office
  4. Valid Driver’s License

Essential Job Functions

  1. Develop- monitor- and evaluate special education programming needs.
  2. Monitor the implementation of special education services for students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for compliance.
  3. Act as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative in IEP meetings.
  4. Review IEPs for compliance and provide feedback as necessary.
  5. Schedule and conduct Manifestation Determination Review hearings.
  6. Create and manage class schedules for students with IEPs.
  7. Create and manage special education staff schedules.
  8. Create and manage special education teacher caseloads.
  9. Monitor paraprofessional time sheets.
  10. Provide professional development to district staff.
  11. Collect and evaluate data related to students with IEPs (progress monitoring- grades- discipline- etc.).
  12. Assist staff with the delivery of instructional methodologies
  13. Act as a liaison between students- families- and district personnel.
  14. Consult with building and district administration.
  15. Coordinate with the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) for students with IEPs.
  16. Coordinate with outside agencies providing services to district students with IEPs.
  17. Consult with staff in problem solving for students.
  18. Monitor materials and equipment needed.
  19. Assist with state file reviews.
  20. Coordinate student transportation needs.
  21. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  22. Complies with district safety practices.
  23. Complies with all district rules- regulations- and policies.
  24. Other duties/responsibilities deemed necessary may be assigned.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

  1. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  2. Ability to enter data into a computer- to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
  3. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels- outdoors and on the telephone
  4. Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms- outdoors and on the telephone
  5. Ability to travel within the district.
  6. Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to height.
  7. Ability to bend- stoop- sit on floor- climb stairs- walk- and reach overhead.
  8. Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

  13. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or other Administrative Staff

 

Contract Days:        Contracted Teacher Days- with 10 Extended Contract Days
