SUMMARY:     This position helps students develop an interest in and the ability for expressing oneself creatively in visual terms, utilizing skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the pupils interests and abilities; develops aesthetic understanding and appreciation; and helps pupils discover and develop talents in the field of art.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:     Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including crafts, drawing, painting, lettering, commercial art, art history, three-dimensional art, and electronic art.
  2. Instructs pupils in district approved curricula.
  3. Provides instruction by which pupils develop aesthetic concepts, appreciation of, and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.  
  4. Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, work time, and assessment.
  5. Manages district-owned equipment and supplies assigned to students to minimize/prevent loss or abuse.
  6. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior.
  7. Is available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside of the instructional day.
  8. Maintains confidentiality of student information.

Salary Information

Starting salary $45,000 with a bachelor's degree based upon the 2023-24 salary schedule, higher depending upon experience, graduate hours, and FTE.  New teachers will be paid $100 per day to attend up to four (4) new teacher orientation days.
