Kindergarten Teacher at Maize Central Elementary 2022-2023, start date 8-2-2022.  Kansas Teaching License and TB test required. 

 

TITLE: Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s degree in education w/appropriate Licensure. 
2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requirements may include prolonged sitting or standing; physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials, stooping, bending, and reaching; also may include some travel, and must work in noisy and crowded environments.

Attendance: All employees are expected to maintain satisfactory attendance and report to work on time every day. Frequent unscheduled absences, including late arrivals and early departures, are grounds for discipline, up to and including discharge.

Appearance: Employees should consider each day`s activities when determining what to wear. Clothing should allow employees to feel comfortable at work, yet be professional and appropriate for a school environment.

REPORTS TO:   Building Principals/Designated Supervisor

SUPERVISES: Assigned students/staff members

JOB GOAL: Mission….“to ensure that all students have the opportunity for a quality education which will enable them to develop attitudes, knowledge and experience necessary to reach their potential for becoming responsible and productive members of society.”  Additional proficiencies will be needed to advance and upgrade employment opportunities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONISBILITIES:

1  Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.

2   Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

3  Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

4  Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the administration.

5  Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.

  Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards and  in harmony with the standards - - establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects to communicate these objectives to students.

7  Employs a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

8  Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional standards.
9_ Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. 
10_ Continually assess the needs of students and refers to the appropriate building level individual(s) when learning concerns have been identified.
11_ Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 
12_ Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by the teacher’s negotiated agreement, Board of Education policy, administrative regulation, and laws of the state of Kansas. 
13_ Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing students. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.

14   Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes when required or requested at mutually agreeable times.
15_ Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteer(s), and provides feedback to building principal as to their performances.
16_ Works cooperatively with staff on various tasks and/or assignments.         
17_ Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
18_ Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Benefits Information

$50,000 Life Insurance Policy. For Health Insurance, if choose the District Health Insurance the District pays $360.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single coverage. $450.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single + spouse or child coverage. $550.00 per month towards the Health Insurance Premium for single + family coverage

The district offers a base salary of $46,050 or based on experience/credentials and contributes $380 per month toward district provided health insurance.

Maize has a lot to offer teachers! All new teachers are matched with a qualified mentor, and both the mentor and mentee are supported by our team of Student Support Specialists and Instructional Coaches. New teachers also participate in eight half-day professional development opportunities throughout the school year.

Our teachers are encouraged to continue to learn and grow.  We offer a professional learning series that qualifies for college credits. Tuition reimbursement is also a great perk!
