Deerfield`s population is approximately 825 and is located in Kearny County in Southwestern Kansas.  Primarily a rural district, Deerfield is nestled on Kansas`s western plains, located along Highway 50/400, just 14 miles west of Garden City.  Deerfield is a wonderful friendly small farming community in which to live and raise a family.  The community takes pride in its schools and supports activities. The Spartan community recently passed a $7.5 million dollar bond to upgrade district facilities.  Our schools are located at the corner of 8th and Beech Street on the west side of town.

USD 216 Deerfield serves students Pre-K through 12th grade on a four-day work week, Monday through Thursday for students and staff, and typically has 200 to 225 students. Our 1A school district is very proud of our academic success and our advanced technology.   The district`s mission statement is, "Students Achievement is NUMBER ONE!"  The district`s vision will ensure all students will be college and career-ready upon graduation by providing the best education through quality instruction and a rigorous curriculum.  USD 216 expects students to assume equal responsibility for their learning.

All classrooms are equipped with a wireless network throughout the district, and all the buildings are air-conditioned.  1 to 1 Chrome Book initiative was developed and implemented with Google Docs for grades K through 12th.  A full-time technology coordinator is on staff.

The district is a member of the High Plains Special Education Cooperative and the Southwest Plains Regional Service Center. We operate a 21st Century After School Program in our Elementary. Teachers and staff are supported with strong resources throughout the district, and a focus is put on meaningful professional development.

Deerfield Elementary is comprised of a preschool program through fifth grade. We desire to create a cooperative community where students and educators strive for academic excellence within a safe, structured, and supportive environment. We value diversity, foster responsible behavior, and teach the academic and social skills which will empower students to realize their potential while becoming lifelong learners and WORLD CLASS WARRIORS! We expect excellence! We are Spartans USD 216! The board of education`s focus is to maintain small class sizes; therefore, the class sizes range from 10-20 students per grade level. Deerfield Middle School includes 6th through 8th grades and is located in the MS/HS building. Deerfield High School includes 9th through 12th grades. Deerfield MS/HS is putting a strong focus on CTE Education and providing our students with many opportunities through class offerings and developing work-based learning programs. In our CORE subject areas provide a strong curriculum and are growing and expanding as a PBL school.  Extra-curricular activities include FCCLA, Forensics, Scholar`s Bowl, All-School Play, STUCO, Football, Volleyball, Cross-country, Basketball, Track, Powerlifting, Trap Shooting, Cheer.
